有些岩友家中或許可能還保存著早年有關龍洞的相關文件，例如剪報、雜誌採訪文章、早期的攀岩指南 (Guidebook)、甚或手寫或手繪的龍洞相關資料，如今，這些都是非常珍貴的歷史文件，因此我們希望能以數位化的方式，將這些文件掃描成高解析度的圖檔，並將所有的文字內容逐字重新輸入，製作成可供數位設備搜尋的文件檔 (PDF) 妥善保存；並且若狀況允許，我們希望能將這些文件重新發布在網路上，藉此找出更多的老文件或老故事，讓岩友們能有更多機會深入了解我們這座美麗岩場過去的風貌。
Some may still have early documents of Long Dong, like newspaper clips, article of magazines, early guidebooks, handwritten documents or hand-drawn topos or maps. If possible, we would like to digitally preserve these precious historical documents by scanning the documents as high-resolution image files, or capturing/retyping the text content and saving it as a text-searchable PDF file. If permitted by the document owner, we'd like to republish these valuable documents on the internet. By doing so, we hope to build a collection of old documents and stories that allows today’s Long Dong climbers to learn more about the history of our beautiful crag.

文件數位化的第一步，是將原始文件以基本印刷解析度 (原尺寸不縮放時至少 350 dpi) 掃描成點陣圖檔，再以 OCR (Optical Character Recognition – 光學字元辨識) 程式或軟體將所有內文擷取出來，亦或以手動輸入方式將所有內文鍵入成文字檔，接著再利用排版軟體，將所有字元依照原始文件的編排方式，逐字套疊在每個字元的原始位置，而在這個階段，我們甚至能夠為原始文件訂正錯別字或做必要的補充說明，並為其賦予數位文件檔該有的功能：例如為手寫文字輸入字元 (供搜尋用)、加入目錄連結 (點選目錄文字即可將畫面移動至該頁)，亦可加入必要的網址連結等等。在完成所有作業後，即可將完稿儲存為可攜式文件格式 (PDF)，如此便能以一般的數位文件方式在任何設備上使用該文件。
The digitization of a document can be performed by scanning the document as a high-resolution image file at basic printing resolution (at least 350 dpi in original size) and then capturing the text with an OCR (Optical Character Recognition) program, or, alternatively, manually typing the text of the entire document. Next, every character is repositioned to its position in the original document; at this step, we are able to make any necessary correction or addition. Digitization also allows us to add useful functions of digital documents, such as making handwritten text searchable, adding links to a Table of Contents, and adding hyperlinks according to the content. Finally, the file is saved as a PDF (Portable Document Format) file so that it can be used as a normal digital document on any type of device.
